Your new job

The Major Donor Manager is responsible for raising major philanthropic gifts from prospective donors, which will support projects, programs and people at Orygen.

Reporting to the Director of Fundraising you will:

  • Meet a number of annual performance targets relating to relationship management with donors and prospective donors, such as number of meetings, ‘asks’ made, gifts closed, pipeline built, and income raised.
  • Maintain and use a variety of systems, processes, diverse range of people and sources to gather information and gain deeper understanding and make critical strategic decisions about prospect and donor management.
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Implementing fundraising/bequest strategies that ensure a consistent flow of income from appeals, donors, bequests and other associated activities.

This is a full or part time (0.8-1.0 FTE) ongoing position, subject to funding.

Requirements

What you’ll need

You are passionate, energetic and determined to make a difference to health and wellbeing outcomes for young people. The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

  • Relevant post graduate qualification or applicable combination of qualifications and substantial experience.
  • A strong track record of successfully achieving stretch financial targets in complex environments – ideally in a philanthropic setting, and ideally at a 6-figure plus level.
  • Demonstrated experience in driving conversations with purpose to build and strengthen relationships towards a particular outcome.
  • Ability to engage and energise others through clear and persuasive communication.
