Franklin & Marshall College (F&M) in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, invites nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Communications & Marketing.

The Vice President for Communications & Marketing (VPCM) serves as the chief architect of the College’s brand and identity, advancing its mission and culture and elevating its reputation regionally, nationally, and globally. Reporting to the President and serving on his cabinet, the VPCM will provide strategic direction for all marketing, communications, social media, and public relations efforts, partnering and collaborating closely with the senior leadership team to tell the story of Franklin & Marshall and the distinct value of an F&M education in a consistent and compelling way across digital, print, and media platforms that attracts and retains students, strengthens alumni and donor engagement, and highlights faculty and student achievements.
The VPCM will be adept at managing and mentoring staff to maximize their contributions to the team and at setting and achieving key objectives that deepen the division’s contributions to the College’s visibility and engagement with its on- and off-campus constituencies. The VPCM oversees three direct reports and a full team of eleven staff members. The successful candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree; an advanced degree is preferred. They will bring 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in the field, with significant time spent in a leadership capacity managing people and budgets within a complex organization. Experience in higher education is strongly preferred, though backgrounds in other mission-driven and similarly complex environments will be considered. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven record of driving results in strategic communications planning and execution, brand and identity management, and digital strategy, including website development and social media engagement, as well as experience in media relations, crisis response, and reputation management. Familiarity with advancement and enrollment communications is highly desirable. Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong analytical ability and a proven record of building and leading diverse, high-performing teams, will be essential to success in this role.
This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in Pennsylvania. The expected salary range for this position is $225,000 to $245,000, commensurate with experience.
