Boise State University is located at the base of the Rocky Mountain foothills in Idaho’s capital city. Running along the banks of the Boise River, it is a hub of government, business, the arts, health care, industry, and technology. Boise State is designated as a doctoral research institution by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. With more than 26,000 students, Boise State University is the largest public institution of higher education in the state. We offer 200 programs of study, including 14 doctoral programs. Boise State has the largest undergraduate nursing program in Idaho and is the only university in the United States to offer a master of science degree in raptor biology. While remaining committed to a strong teaching legacy, a focus on innovation and creativity is earning it a reputation as a metropolitan research university of distinction and a key economic engine in the Treasure Valley. Campus life offers adventure and activity. More than 200 student organizations, including 12 fraternities and sororities, residence halls across campus and along the Boise River Greenbelt, a state-of-the-art Student Recreation Center, and an Aquatic Complex provide opportunities for individual development and fun.
Dr. Marlene Tromp is the 7th president of Boise State University. She joined Boise State on July 1, 2019. Dr. Tromp is committed to supporting students and faculty, serving and advancing the state of Idaho, and helping the university foster research excellence to increase discovery for its students and the world.
