New Facilities: The Janet Root Theatre, which opened in 2007, is a state-of-the-arts facility and a centerpiece of Shorecrest's vibrant arts program. Landy Hall, the Upper Division high school, was completed in 2008. It is the first two-story building on campus, and includes classrooms, a state-of-the-art computer lab, a college center, and a closed circuit TV system. The Middle Division Arts and Sciences Center opened in August 2009, and includes classrooms, science and computer labs, music and drama rooms and a covered outdoor pavilion. Each building has an arts room, which leads to a shared outdoor arts patio with a kiln. The Shorecrest Athletic Center will open in October 2011 and will have a main gym, recreational gym, weight and cardiovascular space, locker rooms, concessions and a ticket booth as well as office space for athletic faculty. Construction on the second floor of the Athletic Center, which will add much-needed space for wrestling, cheerleeding, dance, cardiovascular fitness and wellness classes, is projected to begin in May 2012 with an opening date the later portion of 2012.
College Counseling: The College Counseling department creates comprehensive, individualized plans for each student, beginning in sophomore year.
Faculty: 99 professionals committed to their students and the development of the curriculum. Average tenure is 12 years — majority with advanced degrees. One-third of the faculty members are bilingual.
Arts: Dynamic visual and performing arts programs in drama, playwriting, music, art, and digital film.
Technology: Thoughtful integration of technology into all curricular areas; state-of-the-art equipment such as interactive whiteboards, documents cameras, handheld technologies and closed circuit TV system; campus-wide wireless network
