Company Overview
West Texas A&M University is a public, comprehensive regional university located in the Panhandle of Texas and a member of the Texas A&M University System. WTAMU serves as the principal academic and cultural center of a multi-state region and is a significant catalyst for economic development through education, research, and service. The University enrolls over 10,000 students representing all 50 states and 45 countries around the world. WTAMU is a “Hispanic-serving institution” as designated by the US Department of Education. Over half of the population hails from the Texas Panhandle.
The University’s main campus is located in Canyon, the seat of Randall County, with a teaching center housed in downtown Amarillo. Canyon is a thriving small town with a strong educational system and world-renowned tourist attractions. Located on the main campus is the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum – the largest historical museum in Texas. Paul Green’s Musical Drama TEXAS started performing in Palo Duro Canyon – the second largest canyon in the United States – in 1965 and has since become the most attended outdoor drama in the United States. In 2002, Canyon was selected as a Texas Main Street City. Today, there are twenty-four historical markers in Canyon and the town continues to grow and prosper. Canyon is approximately 18 miles from Amarillo – a city of over 190,000 that is home to a vibrant cultural scene, including professional ballet, opera, symphony and theater companies.
West Texas A&M University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. WTAMU’s Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The School of Engineering, Computer Science and Mathematics is accrediated by Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. College of Nursing and Health Sciences is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. WTAMU also has many accrediated programs within each college. The University is ranked in numerous categories by US News & World Report, including Best Online Bachelor’s program, Best Online M.B.A. program, Best Online Graduate Business Program and Best Online Graduate Information Technology program. The online M.B.A. program and online graduate business program also are recognized for distinguished service to military and veterans.

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
WTAMU completed its first comprehensive campaign in 2014. The Share Your Pride campaign, in five years, raised $15 million more than its original goal of $35 million and increased donor numbers by 700%. The University recently received its largest private gift in the school’s history. Paul Engler and the Paul F. and Virginia J. Engler Foundation gifted two colleges for a total of $1 million per year in perpetuity to provide scholarships, professorships, named spaces, community outreach and strategic planning/improvement. The Chronicle of Higher Education ranked this the 17th largest private gift in the nation last year.
To support a new long-range plan, and corresponding with several major new facilities (football stadium, WT Amarillo Center, and $48 million state-of-the-art Agricultural Science Complex) the University is anticipating a major comprehensive campaign in the immediate future.
