Description
Dartmouth seeks a dynamic and seasoned philanthropy leader to serve as Senior Philanthropic Advisor, a distinguished principal gifts opportunity within University Advancement. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President for University Advancement, this senior role carries responsibility for personally managing a portfolio of principal gifts prospects and securing and stewarding restricted and unrestricted gifts from assigned individuals and families believed capable of making $10 million and above gifts in support of Dartmouth College's institutional priorities. This role works closely with senior development officers and college administrators to further develop prospect relationships with Dartmouth.
The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner to the highest levels of college leadership, engaging collaboratively with the President, Trustees, and senior campaign volunteers to develop and execute thoughtful, multi-faceted strategies that connect donor passion with Dartmouth’s most compelling institutional priorities. This role calls for a seasoned professional who brings creative vision, entrepreneurial energy, and a genuine appreciation for the art and science of philanthropy.
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, bring at least 15 years of experience, preferably in a complex college or university development operation, or the equivalent in a frontline fundraising role; deep understanding of and appreciation for the philanthropic process and individual giving behaviors combined with ability to raise donor sights, articulate aspirational goals and ideas, present philanthropic opportunities, and proven solicitation experience for multiple gifts of $10 million or more as evidenced through professional references and reputation. Strong preference will be given to candidates with comprehensive campaign experience. Candidates must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work with and earn the confidence of faculty, senior officers, Trustees, and high-level volunteers.
